LATERAL OFFICER CANDIDATE

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Lateral officer hires will enter a full-service police department with a fully operational jail, servicing the second most populous city in Orange County, CA. Due to the large number of new officers we are hiring, lateral officers will have an opportunity to build seniority quickly in a supportive environment with an engaged leadership team. 

• Base annual salary range: $84,060 - $92,676 (excluding extra pay for bilinguals and senior officers)

• Safety employees hired after January 1, 2013, who are deemed to be new CALPERS members, will be enrolled in the 2.7% @ 57 CalPERS formula and will contribute at least 12.25% of reportable compensation toward this benefit. Safety employees hired after January 1, 2013, who are deemed to be existing CALPERS members, and have not had a break in service of six months or more, will be enrolled in the 3% @ 50 CalPERS benefit formula and will pay 9% toward cost-sharing.

In addition, you will need to meet all requirements defined by CA P.O.S.T. and our agency. You must pass a rigorous hiring process including:

• A physical agility test

• Oral interview

• Background investigation

• Polygraph examination

• Medical examination

• Psychological evaluation

• Police Recruit base annual salary range: $62,712 - $76,236 (excluding extra pay for bilinguals and senior officers). Promotion to Police Officer upon successful completion of the police academy annual salary range: $76,236-$92,676.

REQUIREMENTS
